I spent many happy hours at the park. My friends and I would walk there from my home on 42nd street in the early 60's. There will never be another place like that again. It had the most beautiful merry-go-round.

Just back from the Fountain Ferry exhibit, and yes it does take you back in time. The memories went back to a easy time in life with the cool waters of the swimming pool. The comet, and the tilt a whirl so much fun.

I lived in Jeffersonville then, and remember our neighbor taking all of us on the days when you could get in with a bottlecap and a nickel.

Unfortunately the fun came to an end when the riots began and some people robbed the Turnpike ticket booth and turned it over with my grandfather in it. It was very sad to see that park close.

I attended Fontaine Ferry Park back when I was a child. My grandfather worked in the ticket booth in front of the Turnpike, my favorite ride. Grandpa would give a free ticket to ride on the Turnpike.
